Many of you had asked me what I did with our group order in April, strawberries. I got a lot this year as I really wanted to experiment with preservation, so this is what I came up with:

strawberry jam (freezer batch and cooked)

strawberry leather

strawberry juice

strawberry puree (made popsicles with them)

kiwi-strawberry jam

strawberry ice cubes(this is something new I've been doing - we love lemonade in this house, and have been experimenting with flavored varieties. You puree your fruit and freeze them with ice cubes and then toss them in. Pomegranate juice was exceptional used this way!)

strawberry hard candy

I think that's it - how did you preserve yours? :)

Welcome All!!

Howdy, friends!! I'm so glad to be able to get this started as I have SO much to share!! Our network of friends has grown considerably, and so, to keep up with sending out so many emails, I opted to start a blog, even though I've never been very tech-savvy. We'll give it a try. My thought is that, instead of me sending out so many emails for new information, updates, classes, and orders, I can now post it, and if you would prefer receiving it through email, you can sign up to receive my posts as email. I'll walk you through it. As soon as I figure it out. :)

As many of you know, we have been preaching self-reliance and emergency preparedness for a LONG time, and have finally taken the plunge and moved out to a more rural location. MUCH more rural! Hence, why I've been off-line for about a month. TORTURE, I tell you! :)

As always, let me know what you are interested in - we can study and learn together. Self-reliance covers so MANY different subjects, and I definitely do not profess to know everything about everything. So, we'll have challenges like the one I sent on email, and I'll post your own experiences for us all to learn. We'll try out home remedies to see if they really work; we'll try homemade products that are better for our bodies (yeah, but do they work? I know, I know...); we'll spotlight primitive skills (through my better half) that are handy to practice; and of course, practice different preservation techniques, etc. The list goes on and on.

I hope this is something you are interested in - I'm so excited to network together and build our own Providence!!

(If this is not something you are interested in receiving posts about, but you would like to remain on our order list, just email me and let me know - no feelings hurt, I promise!)
